The formidable team of Gavin and Kirrily Iseppi, GK Livestock, Dalby, proved it only takes one exhibit to give a Queensland victory at the Sydney Royal Show.
Their only Red Angus exhibit, a five year-old GK Red 26 Ruba G40 cow with her bull calf at foot, GK Red Hot Magic M45, blitzed her way through as the Senior and Grand Champion Red Angus female.
GK 26 Ruba G40 then claimed the Urquhart Trophy for Grand Champion interbreed female and ultimately the Supreme Beef Exhibit of the Sydney Royal Show.
The Red Angus cow then paired with the bull RDMG Red Solo Cup exhibited by RDM Angus to claim the coveted Hordern Trophy interbreed pair.
GK Red Ruba G40 was taken out of the paddock at the end of January by Gavin and Kirrily as they wanted to support the Red Angus Feature Show at Pittsworth.
After her success at Pittsworth, they paid a late entry nomination for the Sydney Royal.
“We thought Ruba was a pretty good chance and she was the 2015 Urquhart Grand Champion interbreed female,” Gavin said.
“We are pretty happy with winning both the Urquhart again and to follow it up with the Hordern trophy.”
Gavin said her show ring farewell will be at the Toogoolawah Show and then it really is retirement.
Success continued for Queensland stud cattle breeders when Kellie Smith, K5X Angus, Allora claimed the title with her Angus breeders group exhibited by Stephen Hayward.
