WATCH: Gold Coast cows rescued from flood waters
CATTLE stranded on a small mound of what was left of their flooded Gold Coast paddock have been rescued.
The well-known Charolais herd in Carrara, which make headlines every year when they are painted maroon for State of Origin, had to be saved as much of the city suffered flash flooding.
Police assisted in stopping busy traffic as the cattle were moved to higher ground across the road to vacant land near the Carrara Markets.
Severe storms are tracking towards the city with forecasts of up to 500mm of rain in some parts this afternoon.
