The expected rainfall ex-cyclone Debbie may create across the Darling Downs isn’t concerning organisers of this year’s Toowoomba Royal Show.
The only event to be cancelled at this stage is the chainsaw racing.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting over 100mm of rain to potentially fall across Toowoomba tomorrow.
Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland chief executive officer Damon Phillips said the show committee will be closely monitoring the weather conditions over the three day show.
Toowoomba Royal Show kicks-off tomorrow on Thursday March 30.
“At present all events are going ahead, expect chainsaw racing, including the horse showjumping,” Mr Phillips said.
“Currently, all the cattle events will be held outside in the usual positions at the showgrounds.”
Mr Phillips did warn the showground’s southern carpark may be closed if heavy rainfall occurs, but currently it’s planned to be open.
“A free bus services from Toowoomba Bus Station in the centre of town via Grand Central and Clifford Gardens, then onto the showgrounds will be operating during the course of Toowoomba show,” he said.
“At this point it’s dry at the Toowoomba showgrounds so we will just have to continually assess the wet conditions and rainfall amounts during the royal show.”
