The second bull in the Highlands sale at Clermont to hit the $38,000 mark was offered by the Donaldson family, Medway Droughtmasters, Medway Wanditta (P) D5.
The polled sire by Medway Terrica (D) D5 found a new home at Tom Flohr’s Red River Droughtmaster Stud, Nebo.
Tom liked the overall length of the bull and that he had good bone plus a tidy sheath.
“I will use him over D1 and D2 Droughtmaster females at home” Mr Flohr said.
“I’m looking to expand my current genetics as it’s the first time I’ve purchased a Medway bull.”
A price of $21,000 was then reached as the second top price by Huntly Quoll (P) D5 offered by Sam and Jane Barton, Mackay & Co, Huntly Droughtmasters, Clermont.
The bull found a new home with Doug Miles, Trafalgar Droughtmasters, Mornish.
With buyer support still strong, third top price was $20,000 and was bought by Sam and Jane Barton, Huntly Droughtmasters for Redskin Hound Dog (H) D5. The Hound Dog bull by Glenavon Megatron (H) D5 came in with a 136 Eye Muscle Area and weighed in at 785 kilograms, which was another great result for the Rutherford family who completed the day with a $10,722 average.
In the heifer portion of the sale, Huntly Droughtmasters offered six quality heifers to top at $5000 and sold to the Pitt family, Gaylong, Capella.
