STRONG crowds were on hand to witness the first official Downs Rugby Women’s Rugby 7s match between the Condamine Codettes and the Dalby Wheatchix on the weekend.
The women played two games to kick start the season with the Wheatchix victorious in both, 12-5.
In the A and B Grade men’s division the Condamine Cods again went down.
Dalby claimed the annual Crowe Horwarth Shield in the A Grade with a 37-10 win while in the B Grade match, Dalby ran home 49-14 winners.
The Dalby boys couldn’t make it a trifecta and went down 39-9 in the C Grade match against the Chinchilla River Rates.
It was the first time Chinchilla had won the Cooranga Cup in the C Grade.
