THE prime Barcaldine aggregation Eurolie was passed in for $7.6 million at a Ray White Rural auction in Brisbane this morning.
Offered by No.27 Pastoral Company owners Leigh Propsting and family, the 20,858 hectare (51,540 acres) property is located on the Landsborough Highway, 15km west of Barcaldine.
The auction opened at $5m (about $97/acre) rising in $500,000 lots to $7.5m. After a pause, bidding resumed, hitting $7.6m (about $148/acre), where the property was passed in.
Eurolie is a blend of both buffel and Mitchell grass country. The buffel country has been developed over the years, with 525ha stick raked. The Mitchell grass country is experiencing a strong season and is shaded with gidyea, boree, bauhinia and coolibahs in the creek systems.
Five artesian bores supply water to all parts of the property. There are also 25 poly tanks, 40 concrete troughs and 63mm poly pipe ensure stock are well watered.
