More extreme heat across the North Burnett saw 1210 head yarded at Monto’s Fat and Store sale held on Wednesday, February 15. Cattle producers have decided to reduce numbers in the lead up to winter with little or no rain over much of the supply area. The market slid approximately 10 to 15c/kg but the oversupply of cattle has forced the price drop.

Pat Williams penned Santa trade steers to realise 309c or $1575. Ron and Margaret Hampson’s Santa bullocks 660kg sold to 283c or $1870. Warren McLachlan sold Brahman bullocks 566kg for 291c or $1648 and Brahman heifers 5156kg for $1405 or 272c. EN and PA Hindmarsh penned Charbray heifers which sold from 291c to 303c topping at $1520.

Birch Pastoral consigned Droughtmaster cows 456kg to make 235c or $1075. Euroka Grazing sold Charbray store cows for 219c or $950.
Stuart Barrett, Thangool sold quality Droughtmaster steers 408kg for 335c or $1366. LD and SJ McLaughlan’s Brahman steers 406kg returned $1307 or 319c.
