Bulliac Angus offered a wide range of Angus females on Saturday at the Hill family’s property called Wandaloo near Miles in south-west Queensland.
With buyers travelling from as far as Wagga Wagga and Goulburn in New South Wales, the Bulliac Angus Female Sale achieved 100 per cent sale clearance for the 29 lots on offer.
Comprising of 20 Angus heifers averaging $2650 with a top price of $4000, plus eight Angus cow and calf units which sold for an average of $3656 to reach a top price of $4500. The commercial females made a $2000 average.
The $4500 top price female was Bulliac Mildred E58 (AI) who had three daughters and three maternal sisters retained in the Bulliac Angus stud. Mildred’s son Jaffa J79 was also one of the top selling bulls in the 2015 sale draft. Mildre E58 was purchased by Roger Hill.
Bulliac Mildred M12 heifer sold for $4000, whose maternal brother Bulliac Knightrider K45 sold for $22,000 at last year’s sale. The heifer was also purchased by Roger Hill.
The Bidgood family, Miles, purchased 10 lots to average $2600 and Michael Gooden, Wagga Wagga purchased six lots to average $3083.
Sean Wick, Kingaroy State High, purchase two lots to help start the school’s cattle stud. He bought the Bulliac Doris J47 cow for $3750, who was shown successfully as a heifer and currently has a heifer calf at foot. He also purchased lot 19 Bulliac Lorna L64 (AI).
Mr Wick said he was looking for foundation females with good frame and volume.
“I really liked the heifer calf at foot on Bulliac Doris J47 as well,” Mr Wick said.
Bulliac co-principal Ben Hill said he was encouraged by the support shown from local and interstate cattle buyers both present and online.
“A number of cows have gone into operations that I will be able to source the bulls back for our clients in the future,” Mr Hill said.
