A quality yarding of 479 head was yarded on February 13 at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale. The prices have continued to improve. With eight vendors selling at Woodford for the first time, a quality yarding was on offer for a broad range of buyers, with western buyers very strong.
Silas Holdings, sold Charolais cows and calves for $2000 and 5 month old calves for $850. Alberton Investments, Bald Hills, sold a line of 18-20 month old Droughtmaster steers for $1340. Whiston Whanau Trust, Mt Mee, sold 15 month old Droughtmaster steers for $1270 and 12 month old steers for $1050. Jeff Briggs, Stony Creek, sold milk tooth Droughtmaster steers for $1330. Scott McLaughlin, Maleny, sold Droughtmaster calves with steers making $885 and heifers $865. Mervyn Green, Villeneuve, sold a line of Charbray cows for $1520.
Doug Chicken, Delaneys Creek, sold Droughtmaster steers for $1540. Alan Gilligan, Rocksberg, sold a line of Simmental store cows for $1070 and 1-2 month old calves for $460. Fresian cows sold for $1730. Michael Bleakley, Harlin, sold Santa cows and calves for $1400. Anthony Kupfer, Woodford, sold Droughtmaster heifers, 10 months for $900. Jim and Ellen Tones, Kilcoy, sold a line of Droughtmaster heifers for $1010. J&T McSweeney, Cambroon, sold lines of 4 month old mixed sex calves to return an impressive average of $685.
