Numbers remained steady at Dalby this week, with a yarding of 5259 head. Yearlings were well supplied, especially heifers, while bullocks and steers were in fair numbers and there was a good yarding of cows. Quality of the young cattle was fairly good with several runs of well bred yearling steers and heifers suitable for feeders and backgrounders.
The market was generally easier with feeder steers down by 15c to 20c, medium weights sold to a top of 356c to average 338c, and restockers sold to 370c/kg. Feeder heifers were 15c cheaper with medium weights under 400kg selling to a top of 329c to average 319c/kg.
The yarding of export cattle consisted of several pens of well finished cattle in a cheaper market for heavy grown steers, that were down by up to 20c cheaper, however the younger grown steers saw little change selling to a top of 328c to average around 300c/kg. Heifers sold to 289c/kg. The cow market varied with 3 score medium weight holding firm to average 238c, however heavy cows lost 8c to 10c selling to a top of 251c/kg.
