Just over 800 cattle were penned at Emerald last week. Prices reflected where they finished last year with cattle mostly supplied from local areas, and a full buyer panel was in attendance.
Heavy bullocks over 550kg made to 295c/kg to average 288c, while steers 500-550kg made to 325c to average 296c. Steers 400-500kg made to 337c and averaged 324c, steers 320-400kg reached 355c to average 328c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 370c to average 353c.
Heifers over 400kg made to 298c to average 288c, while heifers 300-400kg made to 320c to average 313c, and heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 352c to average 325c.
Heavy cows over 520kg made to 252c to average 250c, while cows 400-520kg reached 239c to average 288c.
Sale highlights: The Hatte family, Ramboda, Anakie sold a run of Santa cross steers to average 362kg and 332c/kg to return $1206. Dean Eyles, Capella consigned Brangus cross steers making to 337c/kg to weigh 450kg or $1517.
The Phillis family, Carlo Creek, Dingo sold Brangus cross steers to 285c and weighed 556kg to return $1585. Andrew Boyce and family, The Beacon, Capella offered Brahman cross steers to 358c to weigh 216kg or $776.
The Hayden family, Janibee Valley, Capella sold Brahman cross heifers to 301c and weighed 375kg or $1132. Dunmor Pastoral, Riverview, Comet sold Charolais cross heifers making to 361c and weighed 198kg to return $717.
Jono and Carmel Tibbles, Westlyn, Springsure sold Charbray cross cows reaching 250c to weigh 533kg or $1335. Alan and Clare Kirby, Wonga, Springsure consigned Euro cross cows making to 248c to weigh 595kg or $1475.
Graham and Lisa Ford, Rickyl, Capella offered Charolais cross cows to 242c to weigh 609kg and returned $1475.
