STAND out young cattleman 14-year-old Mitch Franz made it two in a row, again named the champion herdsperson at the annual Santa Gertrudis youth camp at Morgan Park, Warwick.
Mitch, who is the son of well known cattle judge and Santa breeders Glenn and Kathleen Franz, Wahroonga, Jandowae, also won the title at last year’s camp. He was presented with an impressive registered 15 month old heifer from Scott and Wendy Ferguson, Glenn Oaks Stud, Nobby, as part of his prize. Mitch’s sister Abbey Franz, 12, was named the junior champion parader.
Katelyn Grimmett, 16, from Woodenbong, NSW, was named the grand champion stud junior judge and awarded the Sir James Walker memorial trophy.
Katrina Doak from Bundarra in northern NSW was named the RJ Kleberg/Santa Gertrudis youth ambassador. Katrina was awarded a $1250 scholarship and will be fitted with a stylish Santa Gertrudis blazer.
Big S Sale Group encouragement awards were also presented to Abbie Jewell, Chinchilla, and Lachlan Martin, Inverell.
