Numbers eased back slightly at Dalby for the last sale for 2016, with 5417 cattle yarded. Young cattle were in the largest numbers along with a small sample of heavy grown steers and bullocks and a fair selection of cows. The usual buyers covering export slaughter lines and feeders classes were in attendance and operating.
Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed experienced only quality related price changes, however the heifer portion to feed were cheaper.
Heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged 7c to 13c less and cows followed a similar trend to average 5c to 13c/kg cheaper.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed made from 335c to 368.2c back 6c to average 346.7c with medium weight yearling heifers averaging 295.1c/kg.
Grown steers in the 500-600kg range made from 286.2c to 318.2c to average 301.2c, while heavy grown heifers averaged 250c. Heavy cows made from 235.2c to 252c back 13c and averaged 241.3c. The best bulls made to 342.2c.
