Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is investigating the death of a 45-year-old man on a property north of Longreach on Monday.
The incident occurred at around 10.30am on Breedon station near Morella, where the Longreach man was believed to be doing construction work for the owner.
A police spokesman said the temperature observed on the ground on their arrival at the site were 42-43 degrees, but it's unknown if heat was a factor at this stage.
A WHSQ spokesman said witnesses, personnel from agencies such as QPS, QFES and QAS who may have attended the scene, as well managers, work colleagues or business owners directly linked to the deceased, would be spoken to in the course of investigations into the death.
“Medical records, plant or machinery used, and other relevant work-related documents will be reviewed as part of the investigation,” Fairfax Media was told. “Each workplace incident is different, so the time taken to complete an investigation varies depending on the circumstances.”
The Bureau of Meteorology has established an Australian Heatwave Service on its webpage, offering assessments and forecasts between November and March.
The page notes that heatwaves can result in significant health stress on vulnerable people.
