TOWNSVILLE rider Campbell Hodson is eyeing off two top-15 spots in next year’s National Finals Rodeo in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association.
Hodson is in third positions in the Rope and Tie and Team Roping Header standings and seventh in the All Around.
This year, he qualified for the National Finals at the Warwick Rodeo for the third time, an outstanding effort for a teenager.
Hodson and Central Queensland rider Cameron Milner finished fourth in one round of this year’s Finals in Warwick
This year, he only competed in Team Roping at the Finals but in 2017, the odds are he will be in two events.
In the Rope and Tie, one of his opponents will be Emerald rider and current standings leader Shane Kenny. Hodson has spent a lot of time practising at Kenny’s arena in Emerald and learnt from the best in the business.
Hodson isn’t the only North Queensland rider performing well this year.
Charters Towers cowboy Liam Davison leads the Team Roping Header standings narrowly from Milner.
Proserpine rider Roy Dunn is third in the APRA standings in the Bull Ride and odds on to qualify for another finals rodeo.
The next APRA rodeo’s are at Rosewood in New South Wales and Trafalgar in Victoria on December 17.
The Mt Isa New Year’s Eve Rodeo is the next in Queensland on December 31 at the Buchanan Park complex.
