There was a good quality yarding of 1636 cattle at Sullivan Livestock’s Gympie Cattle sale on Monday, with the market firm to dearer for all descriptions.
Cattle were drawn from Childers, Bundaberg, Maryborough, Aramara, Tiaro, Bauple, Tansey, Kilkivan, Woolooga, Maleny, Kenilworth, Eumundi and all local areas.
Charbray steers from Brett and Jodie Johnson, Goomboorian, sold for 342c/kg ($1608). Charbray steers from Boully Nominees, Hidden Valley, Tansey made 346c or $1431. Droughtmaster cross steers from G & KE Blowers, Munna Creek sold for 345c or $1419.
Hebberman Farms, Yengarie sold Brahman cross steers for 335c to return $991, $988, $948 and $933. Charbray steers 12 months from J & W Klotz, Scotchy Pocket sold for 350c ($1199). Droughtmaster steers from R & M Helmore, Kilkivan sold for 371c or $997.
Droughtmaster steers from C & J Blanckensee, Kandanga made 368c to return $980. Agnesvale Pastoral, Childers sold Droughtmaster steers for 396c ($888) and their heavier cross bred mates sold for 364c ($952).
Fortrus Pastoral, Bells Bridge sold Droughtmaster steers for 370c ($919). Droughtmaster steers from Fitzgerald & Co, Kilkivan sold for 398c ($737). Angus weaner steers from Farrell Estates, Imbil sold for 412c to return $748. Generally better quality weaner steers sold from 360c to 398c.
Feeder heifers topped at 340c for Charbray heifers from Jeff and Wendy Klotz to return $1084. Simmental cross heifers from D & P Wippell, Mooloo made 335c ($1135 and $1093). Lighter feeder heifers sold from 300c to 321c, while quality heavier feeder heifers sold from 320c to 340c. Good conditioned vealer heifers sold from 315c to 350c. Quality store conditioned weaner heifers sold from 320c to 345c.
Cows and calves topped at $1475, generally selling from $1100 to $1450.
