Burnett Livestock and Realty’s Biggenden meatworks and store sale held on November 21 saw a yarding of 1392 head. In the meatworks section bullocks and cows sold to a firm to cheaper market for the plainer types. Feeder type cattle sold to a firm market while the better quality weaner steers sold to a dearer marker due to a line of vendor bred weaner steers on offer.
Bullocks sold for a top 282c. R&A Trulson, Childers sold Droughtmaster cross bullocks for 282c/$2017. CA Pollock, Monto sold Charbray bullocks for 269c/$1946. Cows over 500kg topped at 251c. Cows 400kg to 500kg sold topping at 254c. Lehmann Cattle Co, Tansey sold crossbred cows for 251c/$1289. RJ Thompson, Gayndah sold Droughtmaster cows for 242c/$1324. Trade heifers over 400kg topped at 312c.
Feeder steers 400kg to 500kg yarded sold to top at 342c. Steers 300kg to 400kg also sold to 350c. Steers 200kg to 300kg sold to 424c. Treadstone Training, Mundubbera sold Droughtmaster milk tooth steers for 342c/$1505. DB&R Roberton, Coalstoun Lakes sold milk and two tooth Droughtmaster steers for 339c/$1339. J&E Muirhead, Mundubbera sold milk tooth Brahman cross steers 338c/$1079. Brian Pastures, Gayndah sold a line of Droughtmaster weaner steers which met fierce competition to sell from 362c-408c/$704-$879. B&S Portas, Woolooga sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for 420c/$882. C&A Wesche, Bundaberg sold Angus cross weaner steers for 424c/$991.
Heifers 300kg to 400kg sold topping at 331c. Heifers 200kg to 300kg topped at 350c. DB&R Roberton, Coalstoun Lakes sold milk and two tooth Droughtmaster heifers for 324c/$1208. Thomby Cattle Co, Theodore sold a line of milk tooth Brahman cross heifers for 308c-327c/$893-$1099. AW Beddows, Booubyjan sold milk tooth Simbrah heifers for 322c/$1111. Roy Schultz, Brooweena sold Limousin cross weaner heifers for 350c/$857.
Cattle were drawn from Theodore, Tansey, Goomeri, Murgon, Monto, Tiaro, Bauple, Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Mt Perry, Gayndah, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Childers, Bundaberg, South Kolan, Bucca, Rosedale, Lowmead, Miriam Vale, Gin Gin, Booyal and all local areas.
The next meatworks and store sale will be on December 5, the last sale for 2016 will be December 14.
