Steers to 407.2c at Silverdale


The market for restocker and feeder cattle was extremely strong at the October 12 Silverdale sale.


Agents Hayes & Co had a larger yarding of 683 cattle on October 12 at Silverdale, which saw restocker and feeder cattle extremely strong and sought after with a handful of new buyers operating for the first time.

Quality veal and export cattle remained fully firm while plainer export types eased slightly.  

C Smith sold Charbray cows for 271.2c/kg to return $1672.  Coochin Coochin sold Droughtmaster cows for 269.2c to return $1804. 

DJ&JL Wearing, Jimboomba, sold Friesian dairy culls for 254.2c to return $1455. 

Simmons and McNellee of Kalbar sold a Simmental bull for 298.2c to return $2803. 

Denco Qld, Redland Bay, sold lines of Droughtmaster bullocks for 327.2c to return $1832.  DC Harsant of Harrisville sold Angus pasture steers for 357.2c to return $1652. 

MS Williamson sold Droughtmaster feeder steers for 358.2c to return $1684.  LG&DT Klibbe, Lowood, sold Droughtmaster feeder steers for 358.2c to return $1552. 

WMR Callinan of Esk sold top quality lines of Santa Gertrudis weaner steers for an average of 375.3c or $1006 with the top pen making 375.2c to return $1093. 

TD&SM Whitehall, Mt Berryman, sold top quality line of Santa Gertrudis feeder heifers for 356.2c to return $1313. 

AE Gilliland, Kilcoy, sold lines of yearling steers for 375.2c to return $1137. 

Gilliland also sold lines of vealer steers for 407.2c to return $727. 

CI&GJ Wieland, Allandale, sold lines of Limousin restocker steers for 400c to return $900.  A line of Charolais vealer steers from Mt Beppo sold for 400c to return $908. 

CI&GJ Wieland also sold yearling heifers for 388.2c to return $873.  D&G Kirchner, Templin, sold Brahman vealer heifers for 383.2c to return $781.
