There was strong interest for all descriptions at the Monto prime and store sale.

Numbers rose to 1230 head for Monto cattle and Country’s fortnightly fat and store sale.  Strong interest remains for all descriptions of cattle. 

Bulls sold from 230c to 291c/kg.  Ted May sold a run of Charbray and Droughtie cross bullocks from 306c to 313c topping at $1915.  Alan Peardon sold Droughtmaster cross bullocks 600kg for 310c or $1868.  Phil and Shirley Morgan, Bromley, sold 528kg trade steers to 330c or $1743.  MA and TM Pattie’s Euro trade steers topped at 346c or $1620.

Salisbury Farming sold Santa cows 546kg for 261c or $1472 and 463kg cows for 254c or $1178.  Birch Pastoral’s Droughtmaster cows 455kg sold for $1115 or 245c.  Crazy Horse Investments sold 616kg Bazadais cows for 259c or $1600.  AG and JA Penney sold Bazadais cows 598kg for $1550 or 259c.  Rob and Sharon Ramage, Baywulla, sold store cows 418kg for 226c or $945.

K and K Muller sold Droughtmaster cross No 5 steers 421kg for $1517 or 360c.  Darren Keitley sold Droughtie cross No 5 steers from 358c to 361c topping at $1530.  Ron and Sheena Ogle penned Droughtie cross No 5 steers 369kg to realise 363c or $1340.  Dale Brown and family penned Droughtmaster Charolais cross No 5 steers 400kg to return 363c or $1450. Goolah Grazing sold a good pen of No 5 Santa Brahman cross steers for 364c to average 394kg or $1435.  

Lurline Grazing sold a run of weaner Brangus and Droughtmaster cross steers from 402c to 425c topping at $906.  Stu and Pat Leahy sold three pens of Santa No 6 steers for 430c and topped at $1142.   R and L Blyton’s Charbray weaner steers sold to 424c or $970.  Rob and Sharon Ramage penned Charbray weaner steers to return $705 or 430c. 

Ricky Fleming, Bancroft sold Brangus Brahman cross cows and calves for $1620.  Mainly weaner heifers were yarded with the few feeder heifers selling from 320c to 350c.   Baywulla’s light Charbray weaner heifers sold for 392c or $832.   Parker Land and Cattle’s 190kg weaner heifers sold to 388c or $735.  Lurline Graving’s run of Brangus weaner heifers sold from 344c to 380c topping at $830.  Dale Brown and family sold 324kg Droughtie cross No 6 heifers for $1180 or 364c.  LO and AR Morris’ Brangus weaner heifers returned $750 or 373c.  

Monto has now only four sales remaining for 2016, with the sales dates being; October 26, 9 and November 23 and last sale being December 7.
