A 21-year-old journalist who was tragically killed in a single vehicle accident south of Augathella on Saturday morning is being remembered as gifted writer with the world at her feet.
Natalee Hall had moved to Charleville from Boronia Heights in the Logan area of Brisbane in June to take up a position with the Warrego Watchman.
Ms Hall was a passenger in a car that left the Mitchell Highway approximately 30km south of Augathella at 6.30am on Saturday morning.
Police believe the driver swerved to avoid an animal, leaving the road and hitting a tree.
The driver, a 22-year-old Charleville woman, was transported to Charleville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Warrego Watchman journalist, Marguerite Cuddihy said Ms Hall’s death had rocked the close knit Charleville community.
“The day before she passed away she was saying to me how much she loved being out here in Charleville and pursuing her passion,” she said.
“It’s really devastated the whole community. She was one of only three journalists in the town and we were all really close.
“Natalee was doing what she loved though and it’s important for us to remember that.”
Ms Cuddihy said Ms Hall had only been in her new role since June but had displayed a talent for storytelling.
“She was very much in the beginning stages of what would have been a wonderful career - she had a gift for it and she really prided herself on moving from the city to the outback,” she said.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
