THE Rockhampton Brangus sale in Gracemere has wrapped up, with bulls averaging $9927 with a gross of $1,000,082 (93pc clearance), while the females averaged $6934, grossing $263,500 (100pc clearance).
The sale, conducted over two days included one day of females and a day of bulls, which all began after a commercial auction on Monday morning.
Top priced bull for the sale was Bruce and Leanne Woodard’s Bonox 822, who sold for $50,000 to Gavin McKenzie, Tannyfoil, Blackwater.
The second top-priced bull was only one lot before Bonox 822, and also Mr and Mrs Woodard’s bull.
Bonox 809 sold for $40,000 to Valley View Brangus, New South Wales, over the phone.
Top priced female on Monday was the Pearce family’s Telpara Hills Miss Foundation 468L7 (unjoined heifer), who sold for $41,000 to Mal and Sue Burston, Broadlea Station, Nebo.
The volume buyer of the bull sale was Hacon and Sons, Buckingham Station, Boulia, who bought seven bulls for a gross of $65,000, averaging $9285.
Also buying big in the bulls was the Tindall family, Darr River Downs, Longreach, who went home with six bulls for an average of $5250.
Aspley Cattle Company, Capella, also left the sale with six bulls in tow, averaging $4333 for a gross of $26,000.
