THE Mead family’s blue ribbon Darling Downs property Knapdale South has sold under the hammer for $2.675 million at a Ray White Rural in Dalby.
Offered by Wayne Mead, the 260ha (642 acre) property on Prairie Plain, 18km south of Jondaryan was sold to a local landholder. Mr Mead will now relocate to Gavonni north of Bowenville.
The price is equal to about $10,288/ha ($4166/acre).
Joint marketing agent Matt Cleary, Ray White Rural, said eight parties had registered to bid at the auction. Bidding opened at $1.6m with a bid from the floor.
The country is described as level to slightly undulating treeless plain with deep, soft, self mulching clay soils. About 251ha of Knapdale South is cultivated.
There is currently sorghum stubble from last year’s summer crop stranding on the property. There is a bore equipped with a pump and poly tank. The bore is suitable for supplying water for spraying.
