Wet weather forced a number of seedstock producers to postpone sales in recent weeks but with the ground starting to dry out and water starting to recede moves are being made to get spring sales back on track.
The Wandoan Santa Gertrudis sale, originally scheduled for September 19, is in the midst of being rescheduled with talks pointing towards running the sale next week.
President of the Wandoan bull sale group Jamie Becker said a decision would hopefully be made on Monday.
“We are planning to go ahead as normal on the same day as Dangarfield but they have the Dawson River effecting things on their end more than we do at Wandoan,” he said.
“There was local flooding in the week prior to the sale date and with heavy rain forecast we decided not to take the risk.
“Roads were cut stopping clients who usually did the Dangarfield/ Wandoan Santa sale run from attending as normal.”
Dangarfield principle Ben Adams echoed Mr Becker’s comments and said a decision on a new sale date would be reached before lunch on Monday.
“We measured about 90mm at home- we’re waiting for floodwaters to drop to ensure travelling to these sales is safe for everyone.”
