There was a slight improvement in the numbers at Dalby this week, with 2835 head on offer. In the mixed quality yarding there were some very good lines of feeder cattle as well as some excellent 4 score bullocks on offer.
Cattle came from as far west as Cunnamulla and most were in good condition, with the exception of some from the light country towards Kingaroy.
Competition was strong, with cows dearer than last sale while the tops of the bullocks have remained similar with plainer lines a little easier. The few feeder types sold at the time of this report were a little cheaper than last week. The run of yearling steers to feed sold so far have averaged 370c/kg.
Yearling heifers also to feed have shown an improved average of 359c. Grown steers to feed have also sold to average 370c, with 4 score bullocks making to 330c to average 327c.
Grown heifers to slaughter averaged 294c, with occasional sales to 333c/kg. The best heavy 4 score cows averaged 274c, up 6c/kg improvement. Slaughter bulls were in abundant in supply and averaged 278c, with the best making to 294c.
