Art-lovers flocked to the 24th annual art exhibition at Barcaldine on Friday night, described by judge Paula Payne as having a creative energy that was “just bouncing”.
Previously housed in the Radio Theatre, the exhibition moved to a new home at the Barcaldine Visitor Information Centre and Art Gallery, which organiser Joanne Taylor said had been “a whole new experience”.
Cr Milynda Rogers said the beautiful building highlighted the commitment of the local council to art in the region, when she opened the exhibition.
“The art displayed here truly is a meeting ground of inspiration,” she said. “Art helps our mental health, and we need it more in tough times like this.”
Kylie Bowden’s Flaming Emus was judged the overall winner.
