The Talwood Races began with cheers and high fives as Coconut Bay a horse owned by a local syndicate stormed home to victory in the first race on Saturday.
The atmosphere from then on was electric with blue skies and a paddock of green wheat providing the perfect backdrop for the five race program, held 100 kilometres west of Goondiwindi.
Talwood Race Club president, Roger Webster, said the quintessential country race day continues to enjoy a dedicated following from punters and partygoers.
“Our day is going from strength to strength due to the hard work of local families and the strong support of local businesses like McGregor Gourlay, Talwood Store, B&W Rural, Woods Grain, Titan Ag and Landmark.”
