SHERWOOD Park, a 40,500 hectares (100,076 acre) property at Charleville, is under contract.
Located 160km north west of Charleville, the term lease which has been set up to run large numbers of goats has an estimated carrying capacity of 20,000 goats or 1500 breeding cows.
The contract was negotiated by Bruce Douglas and Mark Minnis from Ray White Rural.
The country is described as a mix of slightly undulating mulga, box and gidyea country running back to lancewood and bendee range country. There are good stands of buffel grass throughout the property. About 24,000ha has been pulled and sown to buffel and sorghum during the past eight years. About 2800ha has been stick raked.
Water is supplied from six bores and 11 dams. There are 6km of poly pipe servicing tanks and troughs. Black's Creek also has permanent and semi-permanent water holes. The average annual rainfall is 400mm.
The property is divided into 14 main paddocks and several holding paddocks. The majority of the internal fencing is hinge joint. The boundary fence is predominantly dog netting in goat proof condition.
There are six sets of goat yards and one set of steel cattle yards. Other improvements include a three bedroom timber home, steel machinery shed, and shearing shed.
