The opportunity to “dust off the camera and head out to the paddock” is one that Lucy Kinbacher relishes.
There’s plenty of fodder to capture on the 1619-hectare family property at Biggenden, where they run Garthowen Brahman and Droughtmaster stud.
“I do a bit of everything – moments on the farm, family portraits – animals and people are the main areas I like to photograph,” she said.
“I like trying to capture the moments that people often overlook; candid moments like the cow licking the calf.”
Ms Kinbacher decided to enter the tender moment in the #GrowQld photo competition and her image was voted the most popular by readers. She will receive an Instax Mini 70, courtesy of Fujifilm.
Her image was captioned: “Living on a cattle property there are plenty of quiet moments that go without any notice, this was one of them.”
Ms Kinbacher is in her final semester of a Bachelor of Journalism at Bond University, on the Gold Coast.
“I moved to the Gold Coast for university but I make the regular trip up the M1 to go home a lot,” she said.
“It’s a hard place to leave behind.”
