RIVERGLEN Pastoral Company has scored back to back wins in the Paddock to Palate competition, again named the champion of the 100 day export grain fed section.
It’s a major coup for brothers Michael and David Sullivan who run about 600 commercial Charolais females in addition to the 300 head stud breeding herd on the 6000 hectare Glenmorgan property Riverglen.
The major win augurs particularly well for Riverglen annual bull sale in Roma on Wednesday (August 10), where 47 bulls will be offered.
“We looked for steers at about 400kg that would gain an additional 300kg or about 3kg/day liveweight during their time in the feedlot,” Michael said.
“Then it was about selecting six animals that had but the softness, muscling and frame that would meet the requirements of both the meatworks assessment and the MSA eating criteria.”
Riverglen scored 649.92 points overall, winning the all important commercially based carcase section assessed by JBS at Dinmore.
