Queensland’s fresh food wholesaling sector has given Brismark a rousing 75th anniversary celebration and raised money for charity with the staging of the 2016 Brisbane Produce Market Gala Dinner.
Industry partners joined about 500 from the Brisbane Markets community at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre to raise their glasses to mark Brismark’s big year.
The event was also a big occasion for wholesaler Carter and Spencer Group who marked its 80 year anniversary.
Highlights included musical comedians Tripod, unusualist (shadow puppet, ventriloquist and comedian) Raymond Crowe, popular dance band Magic Carpet Ride and the annual Brisbane Markets Fun in the Markets DVD.
Behind the celebrations was the more serious work of raising money for Diabetes Queensland with a silent auction using a phone app resulting some great sporting memorabilia and collectible items taken home by guests.
This year’s gala dinner, hosted by Brisbane Markets Limited and Brismark, was emceed by radio hosts Donna Lynch and Lauretta Ryan.
