The Coalition Government has announced the successful applicants for funding from the National Landcare Programme Sustainable Agriculture Small Grants Round 2015-16 (Small Grants Round).
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, Barnaby Joyce said 103 projects will share a total of $3.8 million in funding to manage projects that support Australia’s agriculture sector.
Projects funded through the Small Grants Round will tackle a range of issues, including declining soil health, the effects of increasing climate variability on agricultural production, improving natural resource management skills and protecting biodiversity on farms.
Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Hinkler, Keith Pitt, said the Coalition was working closely with volunteer Landcare groups and farming organisations to strengthen the Landcare program and prioritise works where they can have greatest impact.
“Organisations from the nation’s Top End to Tasmania, landholder organisations such as the Northern Territory Farmers’ Association and DairyTas Board and a whole host of others in between have been funded to invest in our soils and agricultural future.”
