A GUMBOOT a day may not keep the doctor away, but it will keep your feet dry if you’re lucky enough to get some rain.
AgForce Queensland is running a competition asking primary school aged kids to get out their pencils and crayons and decorate a boot in the grooviest way they can. .
In the Groovy Gumboot competition, students can give gumboots their due, and design and decorate a gumboot that reflects the theme for this year: From Farm to Fork - my relationship with agriculture.
AgForce school to industry liaison officer Ali Briggs said the competition offers more than just a chance to do some drawing.
“It is a great way for children to expand their knowledge of where their food and fibre comes from while participating in a fun competition,” Ms Briggs said.
“Open to students from all over Queensland, we anticipate the interpretation of their relationship with agriculture will be varied, and that’s exciting.”
Students' artwork will be judged by representatives of AgForce, and judges will be keeping in mind a few things when judging.
First of all, they way to see a good relationship between the pictures and agriculture, how much creativity and originality went into the design and also a bit of innovation.
There are some great prizes on offer, with three categories separating the age groups from prep to year 6.
