Australian and possibly international records were broken at last week’s NCC Global Genetics Sale where semen sold for a staggering $8000 per straw on two occasions.
Conducted by Brett Nobbs and family, NCC Brahman Stud, Duaringa the event also took stud cattle sale venues and events to new levels.
Setting the standard for the evening and shattering all known records were Les and Helen Donald, EL JA Stud, Theodore and Gavin and Dillon Scott, Rosetta Stud, Collinsville each outlaying $40,000 ($8000/straw) to secure the only release of the deceased, former dual International champion, JDH Mr Elmo Manso (US). The EL JA prefix secured the other package on offer, a $30,000 purchase ($6000/straw) for the only release in the three-year-old, grey, Hudgins import, Massai Manso (JDH Jene Manso). NCC Loxacrata 2537 (IVF) a rising four year old grey daughter of JDH Sir Ermis Manso 665/6 (US) nursing a heifer calf by the $28,000 Carinya Kirkwood and safely carrying to the $55,000 NCC Jericho made $24,000 selling to the El JA Stud.
Michael Goudeau, Goudeau Division, JD Hudgins Ranch, Texas, US purchased the top selling heifer, the $32,000, rising 15-month-old, NCC Miss Elmo Power 3283 (IVF) (P). The daughter of Elmo Manso is from the Brahrock female, Miss Martin Power 5074 (P) (JDH Martin Manso). She joins the top selling $18,000 pregnant recipient representing the pairing of JDH Madison De Manso (US) and NCC Lady Ellis Manso (CL) (AI) (ET) a clone of the immortal, JDH Lady Ellis Manso, the dam of JDH Mr Elmo Manso. The other Hudgins investment was the $13,000 grey, Elmo daughter, NCC Fancy 3163 (IVF) (17-months).
Nev and Megan Hansen, Oaklands, Kalapa secured the $25,000, Calf Champion Female from the World Congress judging earlier in the day, in yearling grey, NCC Empress 3305 (IVF) (Renco Law & Order De Manso).
The Beef 2015 Junior Champion Female, NCC Dienka 2801 (IVF) fetched $30,000 selling to the Wilson family, Banana Station, Banana. Nursing a poll bull calf by NCC Kokomo (P) the red matron is a half sister to the class winner at the World Congress, NCC Dornellas. The other Banana Station acquisition was the $18,000 Elmo daughter, NCC Red Robin 3048 (ET) (16-months) whom carried a five-month test to the retained Dornellas.
Apis Creek Stud, operated by Tim and Lynette Olive, Marlborough secured the $20,000 maiden, grey, Elmo daughter, NCC Armelinda 3245 (IVF) (18-months) while regular supporter, Stephen Sivewright, Diddine Stud, South Lismore, NSW secured an unborn with a genetic pairing between Elmo Manso and NCC Dienka 238 (SA) for $10,000 and $8000 for the JDH Sir Stratton Manso 823/4 (US) daughter in the form of the eight-month-old, NCC Miss Regal 3379 (IVF). A full flush sibling, NCC Miss Regal 3388 (IVF) fetched $15,000 selling to Andrew and Kerri McKenzie, Wildhorse, Bluff.
NCC Cindy 3173 (IVF) (P) (18-months) by JDH Stratton Manso 823/4 (US) sold for $18,000 to the Mollenhagen family, Mountain Springs Stud, Mt Perry. A grey 16-month daughter of the $34,000 Carinya Tony sold for $1`7,000. Bred from the full Hudgins donor, NCC Miss Cindy 1966 (IVF) (Elmo) she’ll take up residence at Paul and Katherine McKenzie’s, Arizona Stud, Dingo. Also with a $17,000 price tag was the 16-month-old grey, NCC Lady Dianna 3255 (IVF) (Stratton) selling to Stewart and Sarah Borg, Leichhardt Stud, Sarina.
Another Stratton to sell was the $16,000, NCC Robin 3199 (IVF) (15-months) selling to Kearin, Beth and Remy Streeter, Palmvale Stud, Marlborough. Scott and Vicki Hayes, Yenda V Stud, Mundubbera took a $12,000 pregnant recipient carrying a first release pairing in JDH Jene Manso (US) and leading grey donor, FBC Ms Jewel Manso. Also investing in Stratton daughters were Shane and Sandra Bishop, Garglen Stud, Gympie. Their $14,000 selection was the grey, yearling, NCC Fancy 3301 (IVF).
Roger and Roslyn Nobbs, Garwin Stud, Moura claimed the $10,000 grey, Elmo daughter, NCC Kaylah 3288 (AI) (15-months) while Noel Young, Long Gully Station, Forsayth secured the $6000 embryo package of a trio of ‘A’ grade embryos in Elmo Manso and NCC Red Opal 2195 (P). Six ‘A’ grade embryos (HK Magnetic (US) – NCC Cindy 1710 (IVF)) made $6000 selling to the Scott and Elaine Edwards, See Stud, Wingen, NSW.
