It was an early start for the competitors of the Carpentaria Fuels Gold City Campdraft with more than 900 first round runs to get through.
The event was fortunate to have a quality line of cattle supplied by the Allingham Family, Berryman Family and Hewitt Cattle Company which enabled exceptional drafting.
Friday kicked off with the first round of the Steel Supplies Open draft followed by the Futurity which was won by the lovely Jess Hoffmann on Monty. Then came the 2nd round of the Open, followed by the Ladies draft won by the talented Emma O’shea aboard Dad’s Acres after a run off with Wendy Durkin riding Blackberry. The Restricted Open was won by Steve Comiskey riding Hemosphere after a double run-off with Rohan Marks on Annie Oakley.
The much anticipated Gold City v Steel Supplies Invitational Shoot Out was very entertaining with the Elite Steel Supplies team proving too strong.
The Cowboys home game against the Broncos on Friday night was a huge hit with it being broadcast a big screen at the bar. With the Cowboys winning by one, there was plenty to celebrate!
The Novice was the first event on Saturday with Wil Durkin riding Diva taking the win. Next came the Junior draft won by Dimity Marks aboard Calisma and then our own Presidents son, Corey Stanger rode away with a win in the Juvenile riding Playin the Princess.
The little minis showed their stuff in the undercover arena with Ella Myles riding Angel being awarded the win. All mini riders were given little treats supplied by the generous people of Coffee Mama.
Saturday nights entertainment was a treat all round, firstly with a Product Auction with products kindly donated from Businesses and then Calcutta - run on the top 10 finalists of the Steel Supplies Gold Cup Open which was then run under lights.
The prestigious Gold Cup Open draft was won by Rohan Marks riding Repeater with only one point separating him from father and daughter, Peter Glenwright & Jess Hoffman tying for 2nd.
Local Band “Homegrown” provided wonderful music which was enjoyed by all.
The Mick Dahl Maiden draft is always special to us as Hedley and Sandra Dahl and Family are part of our hard working team. Dan Condon on Mistro was the winner as well as taking out the Cut Out.
Rounding up the events was the Encouragement draft being won by Brodie Land riding Bruno.
