CHRIS, Sally and Ashley Kirk of Rockley Red Brahman Stud, Bajool had plenty to celebrate after their 18-month-old heifer Rockley Miss Pearly 55, sold for the top price of $12,000 at the Elite Female sale.
Conducted under the Helmsman selling method, the sale was the curtain-opener to the stud cattle judging at the World Brahman Congress.
And the top price result firmly cemented the return of Rockley Brahmans to the stud industry, after being absent from the sale-ring due to the unfortunate outbreak of BJD nearly four years ago.
The successful buyer was repeat client of the family, Dave Christensen, Berida Red Brahman Stud, Morganville.
A light red heifer, Rockley Miss Pearl 55, is by JDH Sir Stratton Manso and was sold unjoined, with two straws of the highly talked about sire Three D Platinum given-in.
Ken and Wendy Cole, Kenrol Brahmans, Gracemere, sold Kenrol V Empire 2709 for $11,750 to Kelvin and Margaret Maloney, Kenilworth Brahmans, Mt Coolan.
Kenrol also sold Kenrol Sonya for $10,000 to Rod and Lyn Sperling, Rodlyn Brahmans, Bell, while the Maloney’s also paid to $9250 for Kenrol Miss Kayla 2731.
Selling to $10,500 was Olive Miss Kimberley 1056 offered by Ross and Natalie Olive, Olive Brahmans, Gogango, bought by the Bronson family, Charters Towers.
A natural polled heifer, Olive Miss Kimberley 1056 was again sired by Three D Platium from the Olive Miss Dolly female family.
The Mortimer family, Cadet Brahmans, Eidsvold paid $10,250 for a grey heifer Bardia Madeline offered by the Chapman family, Oakleigh Park, Wowan.
Blue Water Hill Brahmans, Mackay paid $10,000 for Cambil Laytoya offered by Lawson and Sophie Camm, Proserpine.
