Mareeba Combined Agents penned a total of 411 head mixed quality cattle at Tuesday’s Prime and Store Sale.
The lack of good quality young cattle caused values to retreat again this week, however a good pen of heavy No 3 steers made 254c/kg to return to the paddock.
Local trade cows sold to 1c/kg above last week’s top of 186c/kg. One major export processor attended along with three central and southern restockers and a small gallery of local growers and fatteners.
Export slaughter ox gained 19c/kg. Export slaughter cows lost around 8c/kg on last week’s best of 190c. Slaughter bulls gained 14c/kg, Medium weight store bulls sold to similar rates and light quality store males continue to make nearly as much as store steers due to the presence of the livestock export trading quoting out of Townsville.
