AFTER 47 years, an unscheduled family restructure will see the Prince family’s certified organic cattle station Westward Ho put to auction in Brisbane on June 3.
Comprising 50,000 hectares (123,552 acres) of quality Boulia cattle country, the station is characterised by its flowing bores, three natural water systems as well and strong, sweet, clean, and healthy country.
Selling agent Russell Wolff, Ray White Rural, said over many years Westward Ho had been thoughtfully developed and refined to a low maintenance, low operating cost, easily managed organic cattle enterprise.
The property has also benefited from 59mm of rain in the recent weather event.
“In these times of high food security requirements Westward Ho is positioned in the vanguard of production to supply clean, green, healthy product,” Mr Wolff said.
“Westward Ho is extremely well watered benefiting from both an abundance of natural water and the forward thinking development completed by the Prince family.
“The naturally clean, strong, healthy country is ideally suited to producing heavy, high yielding organic cattle and the current owners are one of Queensland’s largest suppliers.”
The property consists mainly of large areas of Mitchell grasslands and soft pebbly downs country interspersed with some gidyea. Some 36 species of grasses and herbages have been identified on the property providing quality natural pasture for every season.
The Hamilton River, Warenda and Fifteen Mile Creek systems traverse the property and provide natural channel irrigation and beneficial flooding over significant areas boosting natural grasses and herbage.
Supplementing the natural waterways are six capped flowing bores supplying strategically located turkey nests, tanks and troughs plus five solar assisted bores supplying turkey nests, tanks, troughs and dams.
The majority of the fencing has been replaced since 2008 and there are laneway systems. There is a large set of steel cattle yards located close to the homestead.
The main homestead is constructed of double brick and has five bedrooms. A secondary building comprises two self-contained units and a schoolroom.
