Help will be on hand for Millmerran residents looking to improve or maintain their health at an upcoming expo.
The one-day event will feature more than 50 information and interactive stalls from local and visiting service providers.
Millmerran Multipurpose Health Service community health nurse Helen Blanch said a highlight of the day would be a presentation about sugar content in some drinks.
“Sugar has received a lot of attention lately and this demonstration by the Toowoomba Regional Council’s Change program will clearly illustrate how much sugar is contained in some drinks,” Ms Blanch said.
“People can then make their own healthy choices about what they and their families drink.”
The expo will also feature tai chi demonstrations, espresso coffee and food in support of the Australia’ Biggest Morning Tea for cancer research.
It will be held in the Millmerran Aquatic Centre and Indoor Sports Centre from 9am to 3pm on Thursday, May 19.
In the evening, a community event will follow the expo with guest speaker Sam Bailey.
“Sam is a well-known author whose story was featured on Australian Story after he became a quadriplegic,” Ms Blanch said. “He overcame his disability to become a successful farmer, ultra-light pilot, inspirational speaker, best-selling author and role model for children.”
