Elders will host the inaugural Dalby Feeder Challenge on Friday, May 13 from 10am.
This event is an opportunity for producers and backgrounders to showcase the quality of local feeder cattle on the Darling Downs and give lotfeeders the opportunity to source lines of good quality and in-spec cattle.
The sale will be held at the Dalby saleyards which recently received a $12.6 million upgrade. There will be three steer and heifer classes, 300-360kg, 361-420kg and 421–500kg.
There is more than $20,000 worth of prizes up for grabs. The Grand Champion Pen of cattle wins a Warwick Cattle Vet Crush sponsored by Elders. Meanwhile, prizes will also be awarded to the winner of each sale class. Prizes have been sponsored by Wild River Concrete, Olsson’s, Coopers, Tru-Test, Allflex, Shoof, Elanco, Bayer, Zoetis, Zeetags and Rural Bank.
Bull credits will also be on offer for the best pen of Santa Gertrudis, Angus, Charolais and Droughtmaster cattle proudly donated by Rosevale, Valorbrook, Elite Cattle Co and Clonlara studs.
Brendan Kelly, Elders Dalby, said the sale provided another marketing opportunity and service for clients, with the same curfew and selling conditions as paddock sales to feedlots, with a central delivery point of the Dalby Saleyards.
“Dalby is centrally located and services over 22 major feedlots that will be operating at the Dalby Feeder Sale, which makes it an ideal location for the sale.”
