Those actively involved in the hands-on production of Sorghum along with those playing crucial roles behind the scenes took time out from the daily grind to attend the DAFF Sorghum breeding program field walk today.
Guests kicked the morning off with a barbeque breakfast and were then able to take a closer look at the trial plot housing 2000 different varieties of Sorghum.
The trial began on December 8, 2015, and aims to develop particular traits for Australian Sorghum breeding companies to use.
Growers and agronomists pledged their support for the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) funded trial and said it was worthwhile seeing the ways in which their funds were being spent in the Sorghum industry.
Full report on the field walk and results of the trial to follow in this month’s edition of the Australian Cotton and Grains Outlook.
