Over 60 young cattle enthusiasts have made the most of their holidays this week by attending the annual Springsure Cattle Camp. The majority of participants came from the Central Highlands region, but some made the tip from as far as Mackay, Theodore and Alpha.
The Springsure Cattle Camp has proven to be a massive success since it was started four years ago. Camp coordinator Suzie Walters said over the past few years, the committee has been exceptionally pleased to see the number of attendees double.
“Our mission has always been to provide and chance young rural people with a fun and confident learning experience,” Mrs Walters said.
“Students can build upon their self-esteem, develop their cattle knowledge and handling skills, and learn to appreciate the value of team work at this camp.”
Run under the Springsure Pastoral and Agricultural Society Inc. banner, Mrs Walters said thanks had to go to the show society for their unwavering support.
“Without the support of the show society and also our sponsors, we would not be where we are today,” Mrs Walters said.
“This year we had 55 head in total, representing seven breeds. This camp is getting bigger and bigger every year and it’s exciting to think where we may end up in the future.”
