Burnett Livestock and Realty’s meatworks and store sale held on March 31 saw a yarding of 677 head and a firm market for meatworks lines. In the store section, heavy feeder steers came off the boil due to some feedlots being filled to capacity. Other store cattle still sold in the vendors’ favour with prices remaining firm.
Bullocks sold for a top 277c/kg. Cows over 500kg topped at 235c. Cows 400kg to 500kg sold to a top of 225c. Charnwood Grazing, sold Santa cross cows for 232c to make $1263. Gigoomgan Pastoral, Kolbor sold grey Brahman cows for 234c to return $1381. RN&DE Strathdee, Yandaran sold Santa cows for 235c or $1409. Trade heifers over 400kg topped at 274c. Bulls sold to a top of 252c or $2618.
Feeder steers in the 400kg to 500kg weight range topped at 292c/kg. Steers 300kg to 400kg also sold to 328c. Steers 200kg to 300kg sold to 338c. GA Fay, Bundaberg sold Droughtmaster milk and two tooth steers for 292c to make $1265. FJ&BES Gibson, Biggenden sold milk tooth Charbray steers from 292c to return $1088. A&A Trigger Grazing, Biggenden sold Brahman cross milk tooth steers for 304c or $1064. Roffcor Partnership, Gaeta sold Brangus weaner steers for 338c to return $903. The Lyons Family, Pine Creek sold Senepol Charbray weaner steers for 354c to make $653.
Heifers 300kg to 400kg sold to a top of 278c. Heifers 200kg to 300kg topped at 294c. K&M Horwood, Bucca sold two tooth Droughtmaster cross heifers for 268c or $1072. GN&YG Fairbrother, Lower Wonga sold milk and two tooth grey Brahman heifers for 271c to return $1082. M&J Hawe, Pine Creek sold Braford milk tooth heifers for 284c or $821. M&J Johnson, Byrnestown sold Droughtmaster weaner heifers for 290c to make $692. Roffcor Partnership, Gaeta sold Brangus weaner heifers for 294c returning $786.
D&J Taylor, Bundaberg sold fist calf Brahman cows and calves for $1200. M&J Hawe, Pine Creek sold Braford cows and calves for $1480.
Cattle were drawn from Murgon, Mundubbera, Mt Perry, Gayndah, Maryborough, Calliope, Hervey Bay, Childers, Bundaberg, South Kolan, Bucca, Rosedale, Lowmead, Miriam Vale, Gin Gin, Booyal and all local areas.
