GRACEMERE

With significant recent rain events in the local area Rockhampton combined agents sold a small yarding totalling 841 head at Gracemere on February 5. The yarding comprised 496 steers, 132 cows, 173 heifers, 17 cows and calves and 23 bulls. The market was firm to dearer in all categories, slaughter cattle were in demand and feeder cattle also lifted this week. Weaner steers met with very strong market, with a good panel of re-stockers present. John Bell and family, Bouldercombe, sold Droughtmaster cross prime steers to top at 291c/kg weighing 591kg to return $1722/head. Fenech Grazing Co, Wowan, sold prime Brahman cows to top at 250c weighing 536kg to return $1342.
