Preparing for the future is essential for any rural business, and a team of succession and continuity planning professionals are hosting a Rural Succession and Continuity Roadshow throughout central Queensland in February.
Presenters at each venue include Kylie Wilson, Anderssen Lawyers; Frank Ricci and Tony Garnham, Entello; Andrew McCormack, Best Wilson Buckley Family Law; and David McLean and Claudia Power, Resource Consulting Services.
Beef producers Peter and Simone Lawrie, Esher, Westwood, will be on hand to share their personal experience.
“Succession planning can be challenging but not impossible and our family has proven that,” Simone says.
“The first step is to realise that you need to do something and take ownership. Try to get everyone to come together and talk and if you need, find a facilitator or other professionals to help.”
The Lawrie family completed their succession process nine years ago.
“Our parents Lex and Janet played a huge part in allowing us to grow and make changes within the business and they also educated themselves in communication skills, which made a huge difference. We were all on the same page,” Peter says.
The Roadshow will be held in the following locations:
