The Twin Hills community kicked up its heels for a special New Year cause, raising awareness of Lyme Disease at the venue 120km north west of Clermont.
Some 460 guests revelled in the Diamonds in the Dust theme to make a glittering spectacle for the occasion, twirling to the live music of Homegrown.
Begun in 2014, the ball raises money for causes that affects the Twin Hills community and raised $21,000 for the Mater Miracle Babies Foundation that year.
Spokeswoman Elisha Parker said the final count wasn’t in yet for the 2015 event but a healthy donation should be able to be made to the Lyme Disease Association of Australia.
“LDAA was chosen as the 2015 charity because my sister Beki, who has been affected by Lyme Disease, is a former Clermont local,” she said.
“Twin Hills is known as a tick hotspot, being gidyea country and locals have taken a real interest in our awareness campaign and are doing a lot to protect their kids.
“All the committee turned up to the ball with Bushman’s spray set up so we could ward off the ticks, so they really wanted to educate the community on the disease and Beki’s story.”
The event attracted wonderful support, including major sponsors Tim O'Brien of TJO Grassroots and Hedley Watts of Aero Professional Services, who donated a $4000 plane and seed pasture package.
Amongst the amazing prizes were a diamond ring for the belle of the ball, and a full-day Great Barrier Reef cruise for the best-dressed couple.
Pauline Neilson captured a number of photos of the occasion.
