QUEENSLAND Country Life cameras were snapping at social and formal events across the state in 2013.
Here is our top five photo galleries for the year.
It will come as no surprise to many of our readers that the photos were snapped at events that are the highlight of the bush social calendar.
1. Glitz and glam at Roma races
Covered by Penelope Arthur
It was another big day at the 2013 Roma Cup in mid-November with nearly 9000 people traveling from across the State for the event. Alongside the Roma Picnic Races, the cup is one of my favorite days out with the fashions now rivaling anything you might see at Eagle Farm or Flemington. Of course, the main attraction at the Roma Races is the ability of organisers to retain the distinct country meeting feel despite the big numbers. Country race lovers are now counting down for the 2014 Roma Picnics on March 13 and 14.

2. Best of the Bush Ball
Covered by Sarah Coulton
What a fantastic social event this was!
People are still making comments months later about it being such a successful night.
It was great to be able to catch up with so many familiar faces and to have the opportunity to meet new people during one of the busiest times for Queensland Country Life.

3. Readers' photos from the floods
Compiled by Melody Labinsky
In this day and age, nearly everyone has a camera on the smartphone.
The general public are sometimes on the scene of a major event before the media have even heard about it.
At the beginning of 2013, parts of Queensland were hit with flooding again and I decided it would be worthwhile to put together a gallery of photos, submitted by our readers on the ground.
It provided our readers with the chance to witness the devastation first-hand.

The reputation of the Goondiwindi Picnic Races is growing at a rapid pace with people from all over the countryside travelling to partake in one of the biggest events in town.

5. Ekka school competitions
Covered by Rodney Green and Melody Labinsky
Rodney and I had a fantastic time starting our Ekka experience by covering the school competitions.
Although the Ekka hadn't "officially" started there was plenty of energy around the RNA Showgrounds.
It was a pleasure to watch the up-and-coming beef stars at work.
