GEORGE and Fuhrmann's annual weaners sales kicked off with with 1800 head offered in Stanthorpe last Thursday followed by another 2250 head of in Casino the following day.
The Casino sale was dominated by top quality Hereford with outstanding pens of Angus and Angus-cross based cattle. The champion pen of Hereford steers was exhibited by Dennis and Sondra Hill, Beaury View, Urbenville, NSW, and sold for $585/head.
Leo Erbacher, Hilltop, Chinchilla, and Paul Erbacher, Kalang Grazing, Guluguba, sold 166 Hereford weaners at Stanthorpe's early weaner sale. Click on the image to see a gallery from the Stanthorpe sale.
Casino sales continue today with 2000 European breeds weaners and on Friday with 1800 Bos Indicus weaners dominated by Santa and Brahman types.
While prices were well down on last year's sales, there was relatively solid buying support. Most pens were knocked in quick time to a range of buyers delivering to the Wandoan/Taroom area and as far south as Echuca on the Victorian/NSW border.
