Severe storms caused damage across the Darling Downs on Saturday afternoon, with hail reported at Chinchilla, Oakey and Mount Tyson on social media.
Oakey received 12 millimetres of rain, while Clydesdale, east of Dalby, reported 40mm and the Barakula State Forest, north of Miles received 29mm.
Weatherzone meteorologist Rob Sharpe said fairly substantial thunderstorms were expected again today and there was a risk of large hail and damaging winds.
“[The storms are] focusing on the eastern parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt,” he said.
“From Miles, through Dalby and down to Warwick; those areas are likely to see thunderstorms today from the trough, as well as north and east of there.
“The trough has been fairly stationary and that’s why we’ve seen thunderstorms across the Darling Downs, Granite Belt and south east coast.”
