MEANDARRA property Woodgunnah has sold for $4.3 million to local landholders Coggan Partnership, The Ranch, at a Ray White Rural auction in Brisbane today.
The 2636-hectare (6514-acre) property was offered by Judy Watts and her daughter Katrina with a 340ha sorghum crop. The sale price is equal to about $1631/ha ($660/acre).
The losing bidder was major Queensland grain grower Brett Wilson, Toowoomba.
Parties registered to bid at the auction. Bidding on the freehold property started at $2m rising quickly in $250,000 bids to $4m.
After a slight pause in proceedings the bidding restarted in $50,000 bids rising to $4.3m.
Again the auction was halted by auctioneer Phil Parker allowing the parties time to discuss the sale. On the resumption of the auction, Woodgunnah was declared to be on the market, and with no further bids, was sold.
Woodgunnah has about 1600ha of cultivation country and benefits from flooding from the Moonie River.
Improvements include a home, cottage, sheds, silos, shearing shed and yards.
Mal Gollan from Ray White Rural, Goondinwindi, handled the sale.
