CASTRATING piglets is probably not the most likely of tasks delegated to a cattle station's girl Friday.
That is, of course, unless you're a vet nurse from the Southern Highlands in NSW like Aimee Davis.
Her skills have also come in handy with patching up dogs, looking over other animals and occasionally people.
But when she is not fulfilling the role of resident medical hand, Ms Davis' typical day involves looking after the station managers' children and doing odd jobs for the property such as collecting supplies.
Not constrained by a self-imposed life plan, the happy-go-lucky 23-year-old said she was after an adventure when she decided to have a crack at working in the Northern Territory.
She said the highlight of her first six months in the Northern Territory was the social life.
"I've really enjoyed meeting everyone from the other stations through all the get-togethers we get to have," Ms Davis said.
Like many of Manbulloo's other staff who have found themselves in the Top End while looking for a different lifestyle, Ms Davis highly recommended the experience.
"I don't think anyone could come up here and not really enjoy it.
"The lifestyle - it doesn't really feel like I'm working a lot of the time."
